Senior Procurement Specialist – Environmental Services, Education and Leisure

This Renfrewshire Council department provides amenity services to every household, delivers site services across Renfrewshire and provides regulatory services that safeguard public health, the environment and protect consumers. The main contracts relates to catering, waste and transportation. The approximate spend is £13 million per annum.

The key performance measures for this role are:

• Deliver contract programme savings and efficiencies
• Manage all procurement requirements across two service departments, involving interrogating the requirement to strategic contract/supplier management.
• Involvement in a range of spends requiring to be tendered
• Working key parts of the Transforming Renfrewshire project, so previous project management experience is required
• Developing existing relationships and fostering new ones with suppliers to enhance cost saving
• Experience of working in a dynamic procurement environment, with the ability to manage own time efficiently and prioritise workloads

The successful candidate will:

• Have extensive procurement experience
• Understanding of project management
• Be an excellent relationship builder to add value
• Thrive working in a fast paced environment where priorities can change
• Be able to manage expectations and prioritise workload
• Have highly developed influencing and persuading skills
